The Weather

What care we though white the Minch is
What care we for wind or weather ?
Let her go boys
Ev’ry inch is
Wearing homeward To Mingulay

— From the Mingulay boat song

The weather in the Highlands and Islands is unpredictable, and can rapidly go from one extreme to another! In spring and summer the climate can sometimes be idyllic, and because you are quite far north, you enjoy very long hours of daylight, especially during midsummer. If you don’t mind cold water (even in midsummer), it is a good idea to take swimming costumes.
