Tarbert to Scalpay

Take the road to Kyles Scalpay. Cross over the bridge and follow the road around the North harbour. 100m after leaving the North harbour you reach the South harbour. Turn immediately right, and then 1st left to Ardnakille. Go up the hill, over the top where there is a big house on your left, continue 300m and just past the new Manse there is a post on your left with the sign Strome Cottage.

You cross to Skye by the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, or by ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. Then drive to Uig in the north west of Skye and take the ferry to Tarbert, Harris, and then on to Scalpay.

For the ferry to Stornoway, Lewis, from where you drive south to Tarbert, Harris and then on to Scalpay. Remember, all ferries should be booked in advance. By Air

The nearest airport to Scalpay is Stornoway, which is served from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Inverness. EasyJet has frequent flights to Glasgow from London but the onward fare to Stornoway is usually expensive. There are no regular bus services from Stornoway direct to Scalpay; you have to take the bus to Tarbert and change there.


By Train/Bus

Train via Glasgow to Fort William. Change to Mallaig, then ferry to Armadale (Skye), then bus to Uig, from where the ferry goes to Tarbert, Harris

Train via Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh , and then bus to Uig; and onwards.
